The initial stain applied serves as a base coat and isn’t intended for long-term protection against the weather. During transit, it's common for parts to get dinged or scratched, so you may need to touch up your coop before applying stain or paint.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOnce your coop is set up, it's a good idea to anchor it down, which can be as simple as placing a stake on each side of the hen house and run area. As much as we have tried to predator-proof our coops, you know your area best and you may want to put predator-proof wire mesh around it, or put pavers. Always double-check the hardware and latches to ensure everything is tight and secure.
